HoneyBook Alternatives for Consultants and Agencies (2026)
HoneyBook bundles booking, contracts, invoices and payments into one account. If you want that same all-in-one setup, with contracts, invoices and payments together, Dubsado is the closest match and Bonsai is the per-user option. If your work is consulting or agency work that starts in client meetings and ends in a signed contract, and invoices already go out from your accounting software, a CRM with e-signing built in, like Dovio, covers that part directly.
Dovio is the alternative we build.
| Tool | Best for | From, billed annually | Priced per | Invoices and payments |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HoneyBook | Service businesses that want booking, contracts and payments in one flow | $29 a month (Starter) | Account. Up to 2 team members on Essentials, $49 | Yes, every plan |
| Dubsado | Service businesses that want more control over forms and automated workflows | $335 a year (Starter) | Account, with up to 3 extra users included | Yes, every plan |
| Bonsai | Freelancers and small teams who also track time and projects | $19 per user a month (Essentials) | User | Yes, from Essentials |
| Dovio | Consultancies and agencies whose work runs through client meetings, email and contracts | about $16 per user a month (Starter) | User | No, use your accounting software |
Prices are in US dollars, excluding tax, and were checked on each vendor's own site in October 2026. HoneyBook and Dubsado price the whole account, while Bonsai and Dovio price each user, so compare them at your team size. Monthly billing costs more on most plans.

Why people look for a HoneyBook alternative
HoneyBook is built for independent service businesses. It puts inquiries, proposals, contracts, invoices and payments in one flow, and it does that well. People start looking elsewhere for three reasons.
The first is team size. Essentials includes up to 2 team members and the automations, and Premium, at $109 a month billed yearly, is where a whole team fits. The second is control, when a business wants more complex forms and multi-step workflows than HoneyBook gives it. The third is that the work is shaped differently. A consultancy or agency spends its time in client calls, email threads and proposals that change after every meeting. It needs the client's history in one place more than it needs a booking page.
What HoneyBook does well
Before you switch, itâs worth knowing what youâd give up. Every HoneyBook plan includes invoices, card and bank payments, payment plans, payment reminders and e-signed contracts. Essentials adds a scheduler, so clients can book a time and pay in one go, plus automations.
If getting paid is the hardest part of your client flow, that is a lot to replace. Keep it in mind when you read the options below.
If you want the same all-in-one flow: Dubsado, Bonsai
Dubsado
Best for service businesses that like HoneyBook's flow but want more control over it. Dubsado covers contracts with e-signatures, invoices, payments, forms, proposals and branded client portals. Its workflows, which Dubsado calls Flows, run multi-step automations triggered by what the client does.
Starter costs $335 a year or $35 a month and includes up to 3 extra users. It does not include the scheduler or automated workflows. Those are on Premier, at $525 a year or $55 a month, along with public proposals, Zapier and QuickBooks Online. Dubsado says its customers range from solo operators to businesses with about 10 employees.
If the automations are why you are switching, budget for Premier.
Bonsai
Best for freelancers and small teams who want proposals, contracts and invoicing next to time tracking and projects. Bonsai is priced per user, which suits a growing team better than a single account price.
The Basic plan, at $9 per user per month billed annually or $15 monthly, covers time tracking, tasks, projects and a CRM, but not invoicing. Invoices and payments, proposals and contracts, scheduling and the client portal start on Essentials, at $19 per user per month billed annually or $25 monthly. A deals pipeline and integrations with QuickBooks, Xero, Zapier and Calendly are on Premium, at $29 billed annually or $39 monthly.
If your work runs through client meetings: Dovio
HoneyBook and Dubsado start with the inquiry form and the booking. Dovio starts with the conversation. It is an EU-hosted AI CRM with its own notetaker and built-in e-signing, for consultancies, agencies and coaches who meet a client, agree on the work and send a contract.
- The meeting is written up for you. Dovio's notetaker joins your Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams call. Afterwards you get a summary, suggested tasks with deadlines from what was said, and a follow-up email saved as a draft for you to review and send.
- The client's history is in one place. Emails, meetings, notes and tasks sit on the company and its contacts. New contacts are created from your email and calendar, so the CRM fills itself in.
- The contract fills itself in. You build a template once, with text, a price table and signature fields. When you send it from a contact, the client's details come from the record.
- You see who has signed. Each signer shows as sent, opened, started, signed or declined, and everyone gets the signed copy by email.
- You can ask your CRM. Ask Dovio answers questions about your clients, meetings and emails in plain language.
Starter costs $19 per user per month, or about $16 on annual billing, and Pro costs $49. Starter includes five hours of AI meeting time per user a month, and Pro includes thirty. Contracts and e-signing are included on both plans.
Dovio does not send invoices or take payments. Clients pay through the invoices you send from your accounting software. If you want the client to book, sign and pay in one flow, HoneyBook, Dubsado or Bonsai fit that better.
How to choose
Start from the part of your client flow that takes the most time.
- Getting booked and paid. Stay with HoneyBook, or move to Dubsado if you want more control and are willing to set it up.
- Running projects and tracking time, priced per user. Bonsai.
- Client meetings, follow-ups and contracts, with invoices in your accounting software. That is the job Dovio is built for. See what happens after a meeting and how contracts work in Dovio, or compare plans on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to HoneyBook?
It depends on what you use HoneyBook for. Dubsado is the closest match if you want the same client flow with more control over forms and automations. Bonsai fits freelancers who want proposals, contracts, invoices and time tracking per user. Dovio fits consultancies and agencies whose work starts in client meetings and ends in a signed contract, and who send invoices from their accounting software.
Which is better, Dubsado or HoneyBook?
They cover the same ground: contracts, invoices, payments, forms and a client portal. Dubsado gives you more control over forms and multi-step workflows, and its Starter plan is cheaper, but the scheduler and workflows are on Premier. HoneyBook includes card and bank payments on every plan, and its scheduler and automations start on Essentials. Try both with a real client before you move your templates.
How much does HoneyBook cost?
Starter is $29 a month, Essentials $49 and Premium $109, all billed yearly and priced per account rather than per user. Essentials includes up to 2 team members, and Premium includes unlimited team members. Billing monthly costs more (checked on honeybook.com in October 2026).
Is there a HoneyBook alternative that charges per user?
Bonsai and Dovio both price per user. Bonsai Essentials, the first plan with invoices and contracts, is $19 per user per month billed annually or $25 monthly. Dovio Starter is $19 per user per month, or about $16 on annual billing, with contracts and e-signing included.
Can I replace HoneyBook with a CRM?
Yes, if invoices and payments can live in your accounting software. Dovio keeps the client record, your emails and meetings, and the contract in one place, and it records and writes up your client calls. It does not send invoices or take payments, so it fits best next to the accounting tool you already use.
